The ability to handle stress and to relax can determine your physical and emotional fitness. To find out how potentially stressful your life is, answer each question by marking the appropriate box.

2. Do you have close friends you can count on?
3. Do you have a good relationship with your family?
4. Do you give and receive affection easily?
5. Do you enjoy your work?
6. Does your income cover your expenses?
7. Do you find time to relax every day?
8. Do you fall asleep easily and wake up feeling refreshed?
9. Do you have fun at least four times a week?
10. Are you generally happy and satisfied with your life?
11. Are you in good health?
12. Do you exercise at least three times a week?
13. Do you consider your sex life satisfactory?

If your score is:
13 - 26: You have good ability to handle stress, and good functioning overall. However, if you have scored 4 or 5 on any question, pay attention to that area of your life.

27 - 51: Moderate ability to handle stress. Problem areas exist.

52 - 65: Poor ability to handle stress, poor functioning in many areas of life.

NOTE: This test has not been psycho-metrically validated, which means it cannot be used for research purposes. However, it is reasonably reliable in measuring stress.
